skip to content. | skip to navigation sections home st1s st2s st3s curriculum delivery events contact useful links disclaimer personal tools log in you are here: home info welcome the yorkshire school of paediatrics was formed in 2007 following the significant restructuring of medical training. in 2009 the west yorkshire and humber merged with south yorkshire to establish a deanery wide school of paediatrics for the yorkshire and humber. the school is responsible for the coordination and planning of high quality training and assessment programmes. currently in this locality yorkshire paediatric trainees will be enrolled in the stepp (st education programme) from st year 1-3 and the msc child health at the university of leeds from st4-6. the paediatric stepp is a regional based education programme hosted across many centres. this ensures trainees have access to protected and well structured education days delivered by selected speakersand experts in their field. each unit is 4 days long in total and will be run on 3 separate occasions in centres across the region. we are now expecting trainees to attend one of three choices of venues which may involve trainees travelling from the west or east to the south and vice versa. the first run of the unit (2 days) are taught on consecutive days, repeated another two times within 5 weeks. each unit starts at 9am, please ensure you arrive on time. trainees are expected to “car share” and keep transport costs to a minimum when they attend modular teaching sessions. travel claims can be made through your employer as travel to work. for example unit 2 day 1 & 2a - identical day 1&2 course will be delivered in one of the two allocated centres (ie. bradford or grimsby/scunthorpe) unit 2 day 1 & 2b - identical day 1&2 course will be delivered in one of the two allocated centres (ie. bradford or grimsby/scunthorpe) day 1 & 2c - identical day 1&2 course will be delivered in one of the two allocated centres (ie. bradford or grimsby/scunthorpe) it is vital that you work hard with colleagues and rota organisers to ensure that trainees at the same level are away on different days. each st year has training days on different weeks so there should never be a conflict of training days. it is vital that you plan in advance the days you will attend apls, nls, pls and child protection courses as spaces are limited. you will have to pay directly for these courses yourself and then claim the course fee back from the school of paediatrics using the required curriculum delivery application form. failing to attend any of the module days and or not communicating apologies, may have an impact on your arcp. if there are service difficulties this must be discussed with vicky williamson and dr frazer well in advance of attending. trainees will be expected to keep an up to date e-portfolio, participate in regular educational supervision and structured work based assessments (minicex, ecbd, dops and sprat) as detailed in the rcpch assessment strategy. it is essential that you enrol with rcpch prior to commencing your rotation. you will not be able to complete assessments or set up your e-portfolio without registration. please inform the head of school if you have problems with enrolment asap. we are advising trainees to purchase the mrcpch mastercourse vol 1&2, this comes with supporting dvd material and a website with supporting material. we have attempted to organise the modules in a similar structure to the book to complement preparation for the membership exams. good luck and enjoy your time in yorkshire !! simon frazer stepp course director « june 2018 » june mo tu we th fr sa su 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30
